Silvia Sukopova,
(born 1988) is an independent designer based in Bratislava, creating collectible design objects, as well as commissioned works for various clients.
She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (AFAD) in 2013, specializing in experimental design, and earned her doctoral degree in design in 2019 from AFAD’s Department of Digital Technologies. Her studies background and hands-on approach form the foundation of her design language, which bridges the realms of craft, technology, and conceptual thinking.
Her creative practice focuses on researching new visualities and innovative ways of applying digital fabrication tools such as FDM 3D printing and CNC milling. Silvia explores how digital processes can shape material expression, emphasizing the authentic aesthetic qualities that arise from technological methods themselves.
In her work, the digital and physical worlds are not opposites but complementary parts of one coherent reality. She seeks to merge these two dimensions, reflecting how contemporary life is inherently hybrid. Through this approach, she challenges conventional perceptions of digital production, demonstrating that technological precision can also be poetic and expressive.
Silvia’s objects often do not immediately appear as printed or milled pieces—a result of her original and experimental approach to these technologies. By pushing the limits of digital fabrication, she creates works that blur boundaries between the artificial and the organic, the designed and the naturally evolved.
Throughout the years of her practice, collections of Silvia Sukopova were exhibited internationally – at Villa Noailles in Hyéres, Galleria Luisa Delle Piane in Milan, Prague’s Designblok, Saint – Étienne’s Biennale Internationale, MAK in Vienna, Unité d’Habitation Le Corbusier in Marseille or at Galleria Rossana Orlandi in Milan. Her objects are part of the permanent collection of Slovak Museum of Design and of Slovak National Gallery.
