Silvia Sukopova Designer

Rainbow Bowls Limited explores a new, experimental method of working with 3D printing that Silvia Sukopova calls Rainbow Layered Material. Each bowl-shaped shell is individually printed from translucent, biobased and biodegradable PLA, then merged together—one nested inside another—without the use of glue or joints. The three overlapping layers of translucent color create a unique visual experience, with hues shifting subtly depending on the viewing angle and lighting conditions.

The bowls originate from hand-drawn sketches, which are translated into 3D digital models and then printed, preserving the personal gesture within a technological process. This fusion of hand and machine results in objects that balance precision with spontaneity.

Each bowl is an original, one-of-a-kind piece, signed and numbered, and can also function as a vase. Through this series, the work reflects on how simple digital methods can lead to new forms of material expression and visual depth.
